Free Radicals
Excess free radicals can damage a cell's lipids, protein or DNA and disturb normal functions in the body. With unpaired electrons, free radicals are unstable and highly reactive. They try to stabilize by attaching to cell membranes in the body, robbing their molecules of electrons. This attack spontaneously generates another unstable free radical molecule and results in a chain reaction.
Although free radicals help our bodies to generate energy and fight infections, too much can harm and age the human body.
What is Hydrogen Water?
Hydrogen water is a type of drinking water that is made from hydrogen and oxygen. It is a clean and safe alternative to traditional drinking water. Hydrogen water has many benefits, including that it is a sustainable resource, it doesn't produce greenhouse gas emissions, and it can be recycled. It is also popular among eco-friendly consumers because it doesn't contain contaminants like chlorine or fluoride.
Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP)
Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) is a measure of a water system's capacity to either release or gain electrons in chemical reactions. The process of oxidation involves losing electrons while reduction involves gaining electrons.
The measurement can be positive or negative and the charges are expressed in millivolts (mV). Negative value of ORP indicates the presence of antioxidant capacity which assists the body to neutralize free radicals.
ORP of water can be measured with an ORP meter.
Antioxidant
Antioxidant slows down or prevents oxidation. It defends the healthy cells in the body from free radicals by donating their extra negative electrons and blocks the interaction of free radical with normal tissue.
Antioxidants can be found in certain food, supplements, vitamins and water with antioxidant properties etc.
