Smelly Cooking Hands
Simply rub your hands over a stainless steel utensil under running water. This works especially well for the odor of garlic, onions or fish.

Sour Sponge
Soak the sponge in lemon juice and rinse it out. This will remove the odor for good but keep in mind that it is important to dispose of, bleach, or run your sponge through your dishwasher regularly to keep bacteria from growing.

Soggy Lettuce
Perk up soggy lettuce by soaking in cold water with some lemon juice. To store, place in a zip lock bag with paper towel to absorb the moisture.

Budding Potatoes
To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes

Hard Boiled Eggs
To prevent eggshells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before hard-boiling.

Overly Salted Food
If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's cooking, drop in a peeled potato. The potato will absorb the excess salt for an instant "fix me up"

Leftover Wine
Instead of throwing away leftover wine, freeze it into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

Opening Jars
If you have a problem opening jars: try using latex dishwashing gloves. They give a non-slip grip that makes opening jars easier.

Remove food stains from Hands
Potatoes will take food stains off of your hands. Just slice a piece of raw potato and rub it on the stain. Follow up by rinsing the area with water.

Crisp Vegetables
Crumbled newspapers lining the vegetable compartments of a refrigerator will keep vegetables crisp.
