Cast Iron Pans
To gently and effectively clean your cast iron skillets after most uses, wipe out excess food with a dry paper towel, then sprinkle salt inside the pan. Wipe clean with a clean, dry paper towel. The salt acts as an abrasive to scratch off any stuck-on food particles of food without using soap and water.

Chrome
To remove rust from chrome, wipe it with aluminum foil dipped in any cola. To polish chrome, use a crumbled up piece of aluminum foil and rub on it.

Coffee Grinder
Grind up a cup or so of rice in a coffee grinder to clean the grinder and sharpen its blades.

Microwave Filth
Food splatters all over the inside of your microwave and cooks itself time after time. To easily remove this mess, place a sponge soaked in water or just a dish filled with ½ cup water in the microwave. Cook on high heat for 2 minutes. The filth is now ready to be wiped right off.

Stovetops
Rub your stovetop with car wax on occasion to prevent grease and grime from sticking to your stovetop. This also makes it easier to clean.

Clean Mirrors
Use air-fresheners to clean mirrors. It does a good job and leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

 

Fridge
Wiping the inside of the fridge with vinegar helps prevent mildew because acid kills mildew fungus.

Drain clog
Drain de-clogger: ¼ cup baking soda and ¼ cup vinegar. Pour the baking soda down your drain first and then followed by the vinegar. Close the drain and let it sit until bubbling has stopped then follow this by pouring in a bucket of hot boiling water.

Removing Crayon Marks
Remove crayon marks from painted walls by scrubbing with toothpaste or an ammonia-soaked cloth. Rinse and dry.

Cleaning Marble
To remove stains, sprinkle salt on a fresh cut lemon. Rub very lightly over stain. Do not rub hard or you will ruin the polished surface. Wash off with soap and water.

Tips on Cleaning Tableware

  • When washing china or crystal by hand, place a rubber mat or towel on the bottom of the sink to act as a cushion
  • Soak dishes with dried-on food in warm, sudsy water; avoid using harsh abrasives or steel wool
  • Remove coffee, tea stains or cigarette burns from fine china by rubbing it with a damp cloth dipped in water mixed with baking soda
